So, I had a chat with the administrators for the Chatham Island school. It looks like, come January and the start of the new semester, I'll be able to bring Ami here to the island for classes. I've already had her transcripts sent over from her school in Seattle. She's .. not exactly happy with the idea of having to transfer away from her friends again but she's started talking to some kids at Chatham so I think it'll be an easier move than the one from Los Angeles to Seattle had been. Plus, she won't be that far from her friends at Seattle. Just a ferry ride away. And we'll still be living in Seattle until I can find a place here on the island to live .. which may take awhile yet because I need to put the house on the market first. There's .. a lot to do. A lot.
Anyway, now that her school stuff is settled. I can focus more of my attention on Christmas, which is right around the corner .. literally. Things are going well at the resort, though we aren't getting nearly as many guests right now. Which, okay, that's to be expected with the weather changing. People don't want to be caught out here on the Sound in a big storm. And, well, it's December. So we all know that there's bound to be one sometime soon.
Right. So, is everybody ready for the holiday? Any last minute Christmas shopping that you need to get done? I'm pretty sure I have all that stuff settled. Unless Ami decides she wants something random last minute. I mailed out the stuff for the rest of my friends and family back home yesterday, so that's taken care of. Ami put up the tree at the house last week, pulled out her Mom's old decorations and did it up real nice. Jess would be proud of her. Christmas was always her favorite time of year.
Speaking of trees .. I'm wondering if they have any intention of putting a tree back up for the holiday since the other one .. well, if you weren't at the lighting ceremony, you missed quite the show. I hope they replace it soon though, if they're going to.

Well, we managed to get the lobby decorated today along with the rooms that aren't currently occupied by guests. I'm hoping that by the end of the week, we will be able to work with housekeeping to get the other rooms switched over for the holidays. Of course, the room decorations really just consist of switching out the comforters and putting small table top Christmas trees in the corners. So it's not such a big deal. As long as everything is done by Monday, we'll be good to go.
Now, I just have to get home to help Ami with the decorations at the house. I was supposed to be there by five, but obviously that didn't happen. I'm not sure how long I can put up with traveling this distance every day. I don't like the idea of my daughter being alone in the house until odd hours of the night, especially when it can take me up to an hour to get back home depending on how long I have to wait for the ferry. Which is what I'm doing at this exact second. Waiting for the ferry to get here.
How did everybody else spend their day?
